Jonathan Port, PermaCity Founder and CEO, is an expert in sustainable energy, solar design, and sustainable real estate development. PermaCity opened in 2003 and has grown into a leading Solar Developer and Engineering Procurement Contractor in the United States with more than 150 MWs of completed solar roof and solar car port experience.
Mr. Port is also an inventor with ten issued solar patents and two patents pending. I.P. created is for more efficient methods to install solar including systems used on Costco solar roofs, 1,800 foot long flexible thin film modules and wiring, solar car port design, and multiple SolarStrap methods for roof and ground mount applications. SolarStrap patents now account for accelerated Company growth with a 50 MW backlog and strategic development expansion with the World’s largest roofing manufacture and co-‐investor GAF to 300 MWs per year.
Formerly president of 3Phases Energy Services LLC, in three years Mr. Port grew the company into a multi-‐million dollar green energy supplier under California’s Direct Access Program (REP equivalent). Mr. Port also was a member of the renowned economics consulting staff of Economics Research Associates, where he consulted on over 70 projects, including California High Speed Rail and City of Pasadena downtown redevelopment. He holds a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning and Sustainable Development from Auckland University in New Zealand and a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of City and Regional Planning from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
Mr. Port serves on the Board of Directors for the Los Angeles Business Council, co-‐Chair of the Energy Committee and on the Los Angeles Work Investment Board (WIB).
